Animal Kingdom

So to hold myself over til August 11th I'm going to not only be featuring 'a few of my favorite things' about Disney but also info on different parks, resorts, and water parks focusing on QSFB :-) Since I've already talked about the Festival of the Lion King I figured I may as well start out with Animal Kingdom!

Although Animal Kingdom is currently the largest park, the vast majority of it is occupied by animals, not leaving room for many QSFB locations.

It has the shortest hours of all 4 parks. Currently the hours of operation are 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park is divided into 7 areas:

  • Oasis
  • Discovery Island area
  • Camp Minnie-Mickey
  • Africa
  • Rafiki's Planet Watch area
  • Asia
  • Dinoland, U.S.A. area

Quick Service Restaurants

Flame Tree Barbeque
This is located on Discovery Island which is near Dinoland USA. This place serves wood roasted, barbequed sandwiches and platters. You have a choice of using the mild tomato- based barbeque sauce or the spicy, mustard- based Carolina- style sauce with the beef brisket, St. Louis ribs, and pulled pork. Guests are allowed to sit along the river.

Pizzafari
This restaurant is located on Discovery Island near the bridge to Camp Minnie- Mickey. It serves individual cheese and pepperoni pizzas along with grilled chicken caesar salads and Italian style sandwiches. The restaurant is decorated with colorful animal murals.

Restaurantosaurus
This is located in Dinoland USA. It serves burger, chicken salad, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, and kids meals. There is no longer a Character breakfast and breakfast is no longer served at all. This restaurant is themed as a campsite for a student paleontologist. It's filled with fossils, bones, and class notes that line the walls.

Tamu Tamu Refreshments
This is located in Africa's Harambe across from Tusker House. It serves burgers on multi-grain buns, ham, turkey, and tuna sandwiches, chef salads, milk shakes, chocolate cake, carrot cake, and soft drinks.

Anandapur Ice Cream
This is a soft serve ice cream truck that is located in Asia. You can get the ice cream in a cup, cone, or as a float.

Anandapur Local Food Cafes
Also located in Asia it is next to the Yak & Yeti restaurant and features items with a pan-Asian influence such as sweet and sour pork, shrimp lo-mein, crispy honey chicken, Kung Pao beef, chicken fried rice, Mandarin chicken salad, egg rolls, chocolate cake, and mango pie. Seating is located outdoors.

Trilo Bites
Located in Dinoland USA this is a small wagon that offers desserts and yogurt.

Harambe Fruit Market
This is a fruit stand that is located near the entrance of Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery
This is located in Tusker House and provides fresh-from-the-oven breakfast treats, assorted desserts, cappucino, and espresso.

Royal Anandapur Tea Company
This is located in the village of Serka Zong and serves hot and iced Asian teas along with some light snack items.

Picnic in the Park
Although this isn't exactly a QSFB restaurant it is new and I figured it wouldn't hurt to put it in here. This was introduced in the summer of 2009 and allows summer guests to have a picnic-style lunch and dinner. Meals include either sandwiches, rotisserie chicken or ham, desserts, sides, and bottled water. These meals are booked at the podium near the park entrance or at Tusker house and then picked up at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery 2 hours later. Prices are about $18 for two people - $57 for six people.
